There are multiple reasons why we have decided to set up a Patreon page. First, there is the obvious financial support, which allows us to build a better game. With a team of 8 full time members, we have a lot of running costs, and having some of these covered by Patreon allow for more stability and give us the ability to keep updating the game! Especially in an area like game development, where predictability of success is almost impossible, it helps a lot.
Besides that, there is an equally important reason - interacting with a closed group of the most involved players, that care to interact and discuss the game on a very detailed level with us. While we could just choose a random set of X players, from our experience patrons are much more involved & interested (for obvious reasons) in the game and give more feedback and interact more with us.
We really like the community we built around our Patreon - You get early access to unreleased content, the ability to support and give feedback on it and thus more impact on a game (that you hopefully really like!) and we get more and detailed feedback & discussions to improve the game even further for you.
With your Patreon membership, you are supporting the whole company (tobspr Games) while we are working on shapez 2 and in the future on other games. We have set ourselves a focus on Automation/Factory Games and have no plans to change this as of right now! We expect to work on shapez 2 for at least a year, ideally even way more, and it all depends on how successful the game is. Our dream would be getting to a point where shapez 2 is so successful that we can improve, update and maintain it over many years!
